Traveling light; almost everything in a backpack!

We aim to have just about everything we need for a quick day-trip or weekend trip packed in a ready-to-go backpack.

Our backpack, ready-to-go, with most-used/needed items!

Items within that backpack include, clockwise from top right, a stocking cap, first aid kit including bandages & pills, cell phone, cell phone charger, small stuff sack, your ear-phones, phone-charger and other electronic paraphernalia, spare glasses, sunblock, small umbrella, several water bottles, red bandanna, light gloves, a baseball cap – and in the center, binoculars.  We once packed a separate camera, but our iPhone 5s have pretty much replaced that!

During the winter months, we also add other items including a couple plastic bags which can double as rain gear, additional winter jackets and gear, and snow chains if headed for snow. We also pack snacks, drinks – and a corkscrew! Grab a few changes of clothes, your toiletries and away you go!

What have we missed; what is on your “must take” list?
