Happy Anniversary Stoker…Covid Style

Today is our Anniversary. 38 years ago Stoker and I got married in our rented condo in Des Moines. There were 7 guests and we did our own catering. The Wedding Cake was an ice cream model from Baskin Robbins.

Four months later we left our white collar professional lives for the uncertainty of living and working on a family farm. Stoker thought she might have to seek employment sorting fruit in a cannery, since the job market in 1983 was not the best. But she quickly found something more suitable. I went to work with my dad, and we managed to keep a small farm going and profitable. We don’t farm anymore, but my Dad and Mom, and Stoker and I still live on the property.

Three years ago I wrote one of my best blogs. If you are new reader or just want to reread it, here is the link:

In 2018 we celebrated our Anniversary with a tandem ride, a movie, and the delicious hamburgers at the Lodi Beer Company. None of that is going to happen this year. Theaters are closed, and somehow takeout burgers and fries in Styrofoam boxes don’t seem too appealing. We could go for a ride, but Stoker has been battling a health issue since October and she isn’t really up to cycling just now. Besides, it is too cold for her.

We will celebrate with a Pizza Guys take out pizza. This has been our favorite indulgence during the panicdemic. Pizza Guys has, IMHO, great pizza, but make sure you order extra sauce (no extra charge). I think I’ll get a really nice bottle of Champagne too, since the good stuff is her favorite libation. I’m more of a Cote du Rhone rouge guy, but she is worth the best.

So happy anniversary Stoker, from the CoMotion Pilot who adores you. We can sip Veuve Clicquot and reminisce about how far we’ve come together and the times we’ve had and the places we’ve been. And look ahead to where we are going. Which probably doesn’t include May in Malaucene in 2021.
