The little devil finally arrives

Just in time for Beer Week: creative Stockton brewmaster Steve Altimari releases a new beer, Le Petit Diablotin.

The sour ale, “aged in wine barrels with local sour cherry & pomegranate juice,” was almost ready to go a year ago when I wrote about Altimari and his label, High Water Brewing Co.

But thanks to the government shutdown, Altimari couldn’t get his new beer through an obscure government agency that must approve new labels.

“TTB, (Tax and Trade Bureau) … stopped reviewing and approving labels and product formulas for beer,” Altimari writes. “All new beers

were on hold until the Gov’t was turned back on. Then of course all the backlog of labels for approval caused even longer delays.”

Altimari was pouring Le Petit Diablotin (the little devil, inspired by Altimari’s kid) at Centrale last week. If you missed it you can find Le Petit Diablotin at Centrale, the Abbey Trappist Pub and Herbst Liquors.
