Not a word about us

Jerry Brown’s State of the State speech was all about the other California.

“His only comment on the state’s economy was to crow about a million new jobs being created – ignoring the recession-like conditions still afflicting the inland regions he had toured just a week earlier,” SacBeen Columnist DanWalters observed. “He did mention, near the end, “too many struggling families,” but that was it.

It would be interesting to know whether the Valley is merely an inconvenient truth for a politician running for reelection, or whether Brown really doesn’t give much thought to the Valley — except how it can be subordinated for the good of the state, as with the Delta tunnels.
