Even rabid south-Valley Republicans – Devin Nunes of Visalia, David Valadao of Hanford, and Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield – voted to end the government shutdown.
Who didn’t? Ideologue Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay … and San Joaquin County’s very own Jeff Denham, R-Turlock. Denham went down with the ship, the S.S. Tea Party.
In this story, Denham explained why: “The American people deserve long-term solutions to stop the spending, stop running up the debt and give real certainty to families across the country and the financial markets so we can get back on a path to economic success and job growth.”
The American people apparently don’t deserve majority rule.
The congressman might be interested in the words of Republican stragetist that Karl Rove: “[The Obamacare defunders] hurt the conservative movement, they hurt people’s health care, they hurt the country’s economic situation and they hurt the Republican party.”
