What it takes to be a cop

Here, as mentioned in today’s column, are the Peace Officer Psychological Screening Dimensions. Even a quick read of these standards is enough to see virtually no principals and teachers have the necessary psychological characteristics.

I won’t even dwell on the irony that the national force of armed teachers and the bureaucracy to oversee it envisioned by conservatives would be big government at its biggest.

Or that the same constitutionalists defending gun rights on Second Amendment grounds rush to shred the constitution in the name of national security: The Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, torture, killing Americans without a trial … but on guns there can be no compromise, even with assault weapons. Preposterous.
