Cardinal Roger Mahony covered up for priest-molesters. Now it emerges that even when he wanted to fire a particularly bad actor, the Vatican impeded him.

What a scandal it will be, what a disgrace, if the files on Benedict’s papacy are ever released. Remember, Benedict said he resigned after “consulting my conscience.”
