The National Republican Congressional Committee has (already!) announced 40 Congressional Democrats it wants to pick off in the next election — and Rep. Jerry McNerney isn’t one of them.
“As a result of redistricting, which favored Republicans, and this well-executed strategy (stay on offense) – the House is well-aligned and firmly in GOP control,” the announcement says.
Ha. To say redistricting “favored Republicans” is understatment. Republicans kept control of the House through the corrupt practice of gerrymandering their districts. In those districts, mostly in the South, Jesus Christ couldn’t win a seat in the house if he ran as a Democrat.
The omission of McNerney is remarkable. For the first time he doesn’t have a target painted on his back. That may change, of course. But for the present we now see what Ricky Gill bought with all his millions: he made McNerney look less vulnerable.
