Letter of the Day: Manuel Lopez’ cushy retirement

A San Joaquin County employee writes:

“Well, it looks like Manuel (Lopez, retiring County Administrator) is finally going to take the money and run.

“I wonder if he will be able to survive on his $19,000/mo. retirement. If not, he can always dip into his second retirement that is piled up in his 457(b) that he didn’t have to contribute to. Oh, I almost forgot, he has about ten years with the City of Fresno that will provide a third retirement

“And I’d bet a dime on a dollar he purchased the retirement time from his short stints with Tulare County and the Fresno RA. That time would put him over $20,000/mo. from SJC.

“Not too shabby.”
