Tiki god discovered!

This is The Islander, a classic tiki restaurant and lounge from Stockton’s surprisingly rich tiki past.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tiki buffs search high and low for tiki paraphernalia from this place. Now, tiki researcher Jon David Foster has found a Holy Grail of Islander memorabilia, the Moai head that stood out front of the place. See it above, with the long schnozz?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It’s been in the back yard of a Stockton home for 30 years. I hope to have the story next week.
