The watery gateway

Local historian Alice van Ommeren writes:

“It is actually the first postcard in the book published in the 1930′s by the Stockton Chamber of Commerce.

“The back says ”Head of Navigation, where rail and water meet. Four transcontinental railways. Gateway to the San Joaquin Valley, Yosemite, Calaveras Big Trees. Lake Tahoe and the Southern Mines. County seat of Twelfth County in the United States in crop output. Come look us over.”
