“Look, this is going to help Stockton, at least the Thunder. Every time we play, there will be an extra 3,000 people just to heckle us. Wouldn’t that be great?”
–Bakersfield Condors owner Jonathan Fleisig, lamely telling the Wall Street Journal why his lame “Our City Isn’t Bankrupt” promotion for a Dec. 27 game against Stockton isn’t lame.
I didn’t write about this. Sports editor Bob Highfill did. But I blogged about it. I expected my counterpart at Bakersfield’s paper to get all puffed up and waste a whole column rationalizing the tasteless promotion and she didn’t disappoint.
The situation is analgous to a prideful jokester who offends with inappropriate humor then blames you for being humor-challenged. Of such stuff boors are made.
