Refreshingly good city stuff

A funny snippet from today’s column ended up on the cutting room floor. An immigrant resident of Stockton’s rockingest neighborhood, Romail Khan, lives by the intersection of Zeppelin Lane and Ozzy Court — but he had no idea who Ozzy was.

Nor was it easy to explain that Ozzy Osbourne is a proto-heavy metal rocker famous for his self-destructive behavior and biting the head off a dove.

“That’s interesting you told me,” Khan said, digesting this information. “It’s good to know.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We’ve experienced how a city can dismay us. But a city can surprise and delight us, too.
