What he said

Bob Williams, President of State Budget Solutions (SBS), a national nonprofit advocating state budget reform, agrees that Brown’s “pension reform” is bunk.

“While the bill passed Friday might stem some of the most egregious abuses, it does nothing to address the existing insurmountable debt and inherently unsustainable system,” Williams said in a statement. “At best, all this bill does is push the inevitable collapse of the California pension system a few years further into the future.”

Brown should veto the pension reform bill, Williams said. And demand the legislature pass real reform.

“Failure to do so will result in California’s debt continuing to skyrocket out of control. California needs drastic action, innovations and political courage to put itself back on the path to fiscal survival and Friday’s bill isn’t that.”
