“Starting on 9th Avenue, one of (District 6 Council Candidate Michael) Tubbs’s friends, Ty-Licia Hooker journeyed into a neighborhood in the southernmost part of District 6. She passed by boarded up houses, stepped over empty malt liquor cans and broken brown glass, and walked the few steps to doors guarded by gates, iron bars and dogs, most often Chihuahuas.”
A story about Michael Tubbs in a Stanford newspaper. It portrays Tubbs as a formerly cocky ghetto guy tempered by religion and taught by Stanford that the sky’s the limit. Kudos to the student journalist, too, for the pavement pounding and eye for detail.
