The SacBee editorialist goes mano-a-mano with his counterpart at the San Francisco Chronicle over draining Hetch Hetchy.
I, too, have wondered why the Chron’s ed board is so aligned with the city’s establishment on this issue. The Chron’s position may be realpolitik — SF has a water advantage, and it is not in its interest to yield it — but there’s never a note of conscience in their position, nothing but token remorse. Ed Boards are usually more principled.
Evidently destroying a second Yosemite does not perturb the liberal conscience. Only the prospect of giving away advantages gained riles the editorialist.
