A harmonic convergence

Farmers and environmentalists are usually bitter enemies. They certainly are when it comes ot the Delta. But there’s one area where their interests converge: preservation of farmland.

Says the American Farmland Trust here: “So now AFT is using the leverage of California’s Global Warming Solutions Act to promote the kind of growth that will save more farmland while reducing greenhouse gases, cutting water and energy consumption, and lowering public service costs and the taxes that pay for them.

“In fact, we just helped convince state policy makers to set ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets that will encourage San Joaquin Valley governments to go beyond the blueprint to embrace even smarter growth.”

Works for me!
