Calls and e-mails are pouring in about the clear-cutting of El Dorado Avenue.
Reader Frank Hummel: “I too was appalled when the city clear-cut El Dorado recently. The effect is ghastly. Once canopied and beautiful in it’s own modest way, the neighborhood now looks ravaged.”

Vote-the-bums-out-time at Delta College
This week’s admission by San Joaquin Delta College trustees that they blew it, just as the Grand Jury charged, wasting millions of dollars in taxpayer bond money while infighting and making bad choices about satellite campuses, is certainly a sign trustees “get it,” albeit belatedly.

To break it down: the cost of an acre foot of water from dams: $750 to $1,400.
From conservation: $210.
If water flows toward money, it may be [...]

Reader: legislators deserve "Stony Lonesome."
Reader Wayne Nadeau writes:
“This is your assignment for today:
“1. Put on your crack reporter’s hat, then carefully examine the oath of office every California legislator must take before holding office. Does the oath include a promise to uphold the Constitution of the state of California?
