Squeal of the little hog
The news is breaking that the California Transportation Commission has recommended giving $0 – that’s zero dollars – to San Joaquin County from the $19.9 billion bond to improve roads voters approved in November.
The local Council of Governments had asked for a sorely needed $300 million.
This brings us to Measure K, the half-cent sales tax [...]

Wilhoit: spy praised us, too
There’s no way around the blistering that a hired “travel spy” just gave Stockton’s tourism bureaucracy and infrastructure. Nor should there be. It’s a credit to the Downtown Stockton Alliance that they subjected the city to a professional appraisal of the experience Stockton offers visitors. That’s how you improve.

Back when he was free, McFall was asked by one nervous executive what it would talke to make him happy.
“Money,” McFall replied. “Bags of it.”
Federal officials said McFall [...]

Surprising new theory on Valley warming
Very interesting. A blogger says global warming isn’t the cause of warmer Valley temperatures: irrigation is. Read about it here.

Uh-oh, a water grab!
The once-demonized Peripheral Canal started looking reasonable again after Hurricane Katrina showed what could happen out in the Delta. The problem is, once L.A. sticks that straw into the Delta, it’ll suck too hard, and the regulatory agencies charged with protecting the Delta won’t stop it. Or so says Stockton-based Restore the Delta here.

Fitzgerald claims vindica–zzz
The silence was deafening in 2006 when I said Stocktonians should follow through on the implications of our “Mediterranean climate” and take Mediterranean siestas. Now scientists say my prescription is good for your heart.
