U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, and Stockton City Councilman Michael Tubbs will host a Neighborhood Watch and Crime Update meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. this evening in the CUFF Gym at the Dorothy Jones Community Center, 2044 Fair St., Stockton. Doors open at 5 p.m. The free community meeting will include a presentation by the Stockton Police Department on how to start an effective Neighborhood Watch, followed by a question-and-answer session on how to best keep neighborhoods safe. The event will conclude with an update on the Marshall Plan, a strategic initiative adopted by the Stockton City Council to reduce crime and increase public safety. “Addressing the crime rate in San Joaquin County and making our streets safer is one of my highest priorities. Reducing the crime rate and increasing public safety will not only benefit our community, it will help attract families and business owners to our area, helping to grow our local economy,” McNerney said.
