SUSD meeting preview
Sorry this wasn’t up sooner, but it’s been a busy Monday and Tuesday.
Aside from the public hearing on the topic du jour, the board will look tonight at several topics:
Tier II low-performers
There actually were two lists released today by the CDE: This one of schools definitely on the low-performing list and a second one of schools that might have a chance to receive a waiver. SUSD Live — 6th Tuesday in a row
Closed session is over and the meeting is underway. It’s supposed to be a short one.
The board did approve sending notices to principals telling them they COULD be reassigned. Ramirez voted no and Castillo is not at the meeting.
Public comments
Steve Vaczovsky: He’s speaking about the big march scheduled for Thursday to protest state budget cuts. [...]
Race to the Chaos
Last week, the state was preparing to release a list of low-performing schools that districts would be required to close, allow to be run by outsiders as charter schools, make wholesale staff changes to or implement governance and instructional changes. The result of this was expected to be that numerous principals would be required by [...]
4-um turns out to be a 5-um
Five parents turned out at Chavez High last night for the first of four forums where the public can describe the traits they hope SUSD’s next superintendent will possess. The forums continue tonight, tomorrow and Thursday from 6:30-8 at Edison, Franklin and Stagg, respectively. For the 299,993 Stockton residents who weren’t there last night (subtracting the [...]
