Lincoln holding information session on budget at 5 p.m.
Here’s the agenda. LUSD has said it’s looking to cut about $5 million from its $60.6 million budget for 2010-11. All of the districts are starting to rev up.

Last week, Gov. Schwarzenegger vowed to “protect” education funding. But school district officials say it hasn’t turned out that way now that they have taken a closer look at Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget.
“I’m really glad he said that,” Trustee Susan Lenz said. “It sounded really encouraging for about 20 hours.”
Lincoln Live — 8:44 p.m. — $5 million cut
Yesterday, SUSD officials said the district needs to cut $28.5 million from its 2010-11 budget.
Lincoln officials just said they expect to have to cut $5 million from their budget. SUSD has about 38,000 students. Lincoln has about 8,000.

Kim Fuhrman, a representative of PG&E, is speaking about how the district can cut its energy costs.
She mentioned a topic LUSD has discussed in the past — creating a solar farm to power the district’s schools. She said the way to save money is to have solar systems at each individual site.

Lincoln Unified student trustee Sadia Saifuddin spoke briefly. She said she is hoping Lincoln, Lodi and Stockton students can collaborate to raise funds to help victims of the horrible tragedy in Haiti.

A busy week begins
Stockton Unified and Lincoln Unified both have meetings this week, SUSD on Tuesday, LUSD on Wednesday.
SUSD’s meeting will be a budget study session. The district is looking at cutting at least $20.1 million from its 2010-11 budget and may learn in January of midyear cuts, too. Click here to view the Stockton Unified agenda.
