Last week, Gov. Schwarzenegger vowed to “protect” education funding. But school district officials say it hasn’t turned out that way now that they have taken a closer look at Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget. “I’m really glad he said that,” Trustee Susan Lenz said. “It sounded really encouraging for about 20 hours.”

Yesterday, SUSD officials said the district needs to cut $28.5 million from its 2010-11 budget. Lincoln officials just said they expect to have to cut $5 million from their budget.
