SUSD Live – Public comment

-  Gina Hall from Rio Calaveras spoke about the school’s multicultural fair. Thanked those who came out and the sponsors.

- Teachers union President Ellen Old went to the podium with a standing ovation. She spoke about representing 1800 teachers and wanted to thank the board for designating May 14 as “day of the teacher.”  Old insinuated that doing so was a way of saying thanks to teachers. So, she said, “your welcome.” Then she hit the board up for a raise for teachers. “We ask you show appreciation for our hard work with reasonable compensation.”

- Marilyn Brown and Delores Foster of CSEA spoke. Brown told the board they don’t listen, so she’s going to talk to them in a different way tonight. She then had a faux conversation with Foster about how bad the cafeteria food is, and how they use toxic plastic wraps to heat the food in. Foster continued the script “there’s a lot of things that could be prioritized and put in proper perspective.”
