In yesterday’s paper we told the story of Roy Vazquez Jr., a Hazelton Elementary seventh-grader who has been in a coma for the past two months after a blood vessel burst in his brain. Roy is 12 now. When he was 10, he created a bucket list:
“Make Mom and Dad proud. Become something great in life. Help people out. Find a cure for cancer or autism if possible. Note to self: Start living life now!!!!”
It goes without saying but we’ll say it anyway: The long hospitalization and Roy’s eventual return home have put enormous emotional and financial strains on the Vazquez family. Today, Hazelton Principal Kathyrn Byers shared information on how to help.
