James Mousalimas’ candidacy has gained support from two prominent backers.
Mousalimas, the deputy superintendent at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, is running for superintendent against New Jerusalem Elementary Deputy Superintendent Jeff Tilton.
Here’s Mousalimas’ news release regarding the support he is receiving from businessman Fritz Grupe and retired county education Superintendent Fredrick Wentworth.
Former Stockton Unified Superintendent Carl Toliver, retired SJCOE Deputy Superintendent Gary Dei Rossi and San Joaquin County Supervisor Steve Bestolarides also have endorsed Mousalimas. Tilton’s supporters, according to his website, include former Representative Richard Pombo, New Jerusalem Elementary Superintendent David Thoming and county office board member Jill Fritchen.
Mousalimas and Tilton are seeking to replace Mick Founts, who announced in August he would not seek a second term due to “personal” reasons.
