Tonight’s meeting starts in a little less than two hours, and it appears that if you are looking for a key item, look no further than Item 6.3 on the agenda.
That item calls for approval of the employment agreement for interim Police Chief Eric Holman, who replaced retiring Chief Jim West nearly four weeks ago.
Yesterday, a five-page letter was sent to Superintendent Steve Lowder (and copied to the board), purportedly by a member of the SUSD police force (I am holding off on providing the author’s name until that person confirms writing the letter, out of an abundance of caution). But to describe the letter as harsh would not come close to doing it justice. The letter blasts Lowder and Holman.
For now, it’s worth remembering the email that Jim West submitted when he announced his retirement back in August. From the Aug. 2 article reporting West’s retirement:
In his email, West voiced frustration over funding and staffing, expressed concern about outdated security infrastructure at some school sites and accused district leadership of “micromanagement” and a “lack of respect.”
