Eric Holman reached a contract agreement to be Stockton Unified’s interim police chief late Tuesday night, nearly one month after he was hand-picked for the job by Stockton Unified Superintendent Steve Lowder and less than two hours after he and Lowder were sharply criticized by retired Chief Jim West.
The board approved the contract by a 6-1 vote. David Varela voted against the contract. The board also voted 4-3 to open contract negotiations with “a specific candidate” to be interim captain. Varela, Colleen Keenan and Sal Ramirez voted no.
Sorry, that’s all I’ve got for you tonight. Story in tomorrow’s paper. Someone has to write it.
