Chief Business Officer Michele Huntoon said the new funding the district was expecting from the state’s new Local Control Funding Formula has been deferred until June or July. Previously, it had been anticipated in February. The funding is meant to benefit districts like SUSD that have high numbers of low-income and English learner students. But school finance officials have been warning since the model was adopted that over-exuberance should be avoided.
“You cannot change a funding model in a state of this size on a dime,” Huntoon said. “It is an implementation issue. It’s a huge implementation issue.”
