SUSD Live — Public comment, Margarito Ortega upset by layoff notice

After the board approved the consent items, we heard from the public.

Only one speaker:

Margarito Ortega, Washington Elementary principal: “I am exercising my First Amendment rights.” He asked Superintendent Steve Lowder if he could address the board. He thanked the board for recognizing the work of SUSD administrators. He said he is one of the 11 administrators given a layoff notice two weeks ago. “The following questions need to be asked: Can such a recommendation be made by a superintendent who never visited my school? How may I received such notice when 29 other schools had lower scores?”
