If tonight’s SUSD agenda doesn’t grab you, maybe this will.
From SUSD transportation director Carlos Chicas comes this:
Just last week, the District received delivery of a brand new 2013 Thomas Built bus. The bus was acquired through a San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Grant (SJVAPCD) awarded to SUSD. As the largest school bus fleet in San Joaquin County, our district is a good candidate for older, high pollutant, vehicle replacement. The bus retails for a little over $140,000 and surpasses all federal and state emission standards. The district purchased the bus with total out-of-pocket of $25,000, while SJVAPCD covered the balance.
Not the new bus (left).
