SUSD Live — Dogs and search and seizure

The district declared a “crisis” as a means of justifying use of non-aggressive contraband-sniffing dogs. This is meant to address concerns raised by the ACLU. Attorney Marie Nakamura said there are district concerns with drugs and firearms and campuses. Using the dogs necessitates updating of district policy on search and seizure for the first time since 2000.

The relevant items, 6.2 and 6.3, were unanimously approved.
