Last fall, efforts began to form a Valley Community Orchestra of local musicians, including amateurs and retired local professionals. The debut is at 7 tonight — a free performance open to the public at O’Connor Woods.
The orchestra has 30 members, and the conductor and concert master are members of the Stockton Symphony. Among the performers are two Chavez High students, and there also is an 83-year-old musician. Tonight’s performance will include selections from Mozart and Handel. A second performance is scheduled for April 11 at McNair High.
