SUSD Live: Board comments

SUSD Science Fair: Judges needed. Lincoln Unified: Save Science Camp crab feed. 

Kathy Garcia: She said she visited Health Careers Academy recently. She said she wanted to hug Principal Traci Miller because she is so enthusiastic.

Colleen Keenan: She thanked principals who recently showed her around their schools.

David Varela: No comment.

Sara Cazares: She recalled a ride-along she did with Sgt. Kim Pinto when she first got on the board. “I feel like I lost a friend.” She said she would support a scholarship in Pinto’s name. She also acknowledged the IB program at Franklin. They recently had alums at the school, including one from Northwestern University, Cazares said.

Steve Smith: He cited an article from the Stagg Line in which the presence of random searches were endorsed by students. He also cited an article in Comstock’s on Health Careers Academy.

Sal Ramirez: He recently visited Mexico after his brother passed away. He said his brother was an educational role model. He was a physician. “He was the one who set an example. Role models are important. It was important to me. I wanted to grow up to be just like him.”

Gloria Allen: She said she is an avid shopper and recently went to Target. She said they will donate part of people’s Red Card purchases to education, and she encouraged people to sign up for this program when they visit Target.
