Stockton Unified, University of the Pacific, the Stockton Symphony and the United Way teamed up in 2011 to establish Harmony Stockton, an after-school program at Marshall Elementary that provides its participants with 10 hours of music instruction every week. Harmony Stockton is modeled after the El Sistema program, which has been credited with sparking social change in Venezuela’s ghettos.
The holiday season will provide an opportunity to see and more importantly hear what the Harmony Stockton students have learned in the past year. The students will perform at Marshall Elementary on Dec. 18. The details are here.
