Allen’s lead shrinks heading into the Thanksgiving holiday

As I bid you adieu for Thanksgiving and the three days afterward, we have a late update from the Registrar of Voters on the never-ending elections.

Here’s where things stood after the last update five days ago. But with this afternoon’s update on the counting of provisional ballots, SUSD Area 1 incumbent Gloria Allen’s lead over Monica Hernandez has shrunk from 59 votes to 41. The count now is 2,458-2,417.

Like Hernandez, Area 4 incumbent Angel Jimenez also has gained a little pre-turkey sustenance, though he has a much bigger hill to climb. Jimenez is now 243 votes behind challenger Colleen Keenan. On Monday, he trailed by 291. The count is 4,021 for Keenan, 3,778 for Jimenez.

Counting may be done late next week or could drag into the early part of the following week.

And with that, Happy Thanksgiving.
