Angel Jimenez spoke of security concerns at football games. Jimenez also complimented Superintendent Steve Lowder and district literacy efforts.

Jose Morales asked people to vote for Prop. 30. “I just hope those who are against it understand how important it is for our district. It’s a very critical time for public education.”

David Varela reminded that there’s a facilities committee meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday. He also spoke about STEM and CTE conversation. He said the Reaching for the Stars foundation, Pacific and Delta are working well together and that UCSF wants to emulate what SUSD is doing. “We are doing some great things here in Stockton.”

Gloria Allen praised Edison Principal Brian Biedermann for his handling of the shootings outside the stadium at the recent football game.

Sal Ramirez had no comment.

Steve Smith spoke of the recent closure of VISTA Charter School. He said he was proud that SUSD was well-represented at a VISTA high school fair where VISTA students were told their options about new school placements.

Sara Cazares attended Chavez’s homecoming. She boasted about the Chavez football victory. She also praised parent involvement at Rio Calaveras.
