This is Item 3.1 tonight. Looks as if, in response to frequent complaints, the public comment has been moved earlier in the agenda.
Mike Self, executive director, Stockton Builders Exchange: He came out to support a plan that will be discussed and perhaps approved later to speed up the funding for the Measure Q bond. It’s complicated, but the effect would be to bring money in quicker so the district can move its construction projects forward more quickly.
Pamela Ping spoke on a CSEA contract ratified yesterday for bus drivers. She is not happy with aspects of the deal. The board is expected to ratify the contract tonight. She asked the vote be postponed until August.
Rose Sivels spoke in favor of the agreement. “The majority have ruled,” she said.
Another driver spoke against the agreement.
Laura Mendoza, a special-ed driver, is also against the agreement.
John Navarette, a special-ed driver, also spoke against the deal. He said some drivers didn’t know the vote yesterday by the union was taking place.
