Career pathways

Earlier today, Health Careers Academy Principal Traci Miller passed on the news that her school is recruiting students. Two other principals say they will soon be submitting information on available space in their programs. So I’m welcoming any principal or teacher to pass on information about space they have for students, as Stagg High’s Don Bott did just now. And I’ll keep a running list with contact information as I get submissions.

Bott is inviting students interested in journalism to get in touch with him. You don’t have to live in the Stagg attendance area, either; his is a magnet program and therefore open to all in the district.

He wrote, “Granted, we are a comprehensive high school, not a specialty school/charter. Still, journalism is often exactly what works for some students, especially those who love words and storytelling (not just telling a story through the printed word but in any number of ways). And being involved in journalism at our relatively large school (approx. 1,700 students) makes everything seem more comfortable and close. This invite would be for incoming ninth grade students who love writing, words and storytelling and would love to be part of a great team.”
