The agenda for SUSD’s regular Tuesday meeting is here.
The board will be asked to approve the hiring of Tim Martinez as the director of marketing and communications, with funding for the position to come from the general fund and the 1852 Foundation (how flush the foundation is at this point is unclear). The salary range is $102,000-$124,000. Information on this prospective position begins on page 30 of the attachment.
The board also is to consider raising Deputy Superintendent Julie Penn’s salary from range 63A ($137,000) to range 66A plus ($165,001). This item was pulled at the last meeting, but it is back Tuesday.
The board also will consider the district’s proposed 2012-13 calendar, which calls for opening day to be Aug. 14 — two-plus weeks later than in recent years. The Stockton Teachers Association has not been happy about this proposed change. The district office says it needs more time between the end of one school year and the start of the next to handle its bureaucratic duties.
All in all, it’s shaping up as an evening of peace and love the likes of which we have not seen in many moons.
