A little more on ’stereotype threat’ — with an update
Today’s story on the Stanford CAHSEE report attributed some students’ struggles on the high-school exit exam to “stereotype threat.” The Stanford finding is that some minority and female students have additional stress when taking tests because they fear they will confirm the stereotypes about their groups.

Raising autism awareness
Back from vacation, I looked at my e-mail for the first time in 10 days and learned of an upcoming concert in Stockton intended to raise autism awareness.

More bleak news on Stockton dropouts
The California Dropout Research Project at UC, Santa Barbara released a report today with more discouraging news about Stockton dropouts — not just Stockton Unified, but the whole city.
