The board voted 5-2 to push this issue back to next week. No decision tonight. A special meeting is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday. The location of the meeting has not been announced.      Tie-breaking procedures for layoffs have been approved. So now comes Item 5.4 — the actual cuts. Sal Ramirez and Bill Ross say they want to table this and have another meeting. Loud applause from the audience.      Beverly Fitch McCarthy now wants to reschedule to a date next week “mutually agreeable” to the board.      Attorney Marie [...]

And now the board members speak.      Bill Ross: “I heard a lot of things tonight. One of the things we heard was about transparency. I do not believe what we have in the budget reflects any transparency. We need to find the solutions. You need to be part of the solutions. I don’t think [...]

OK, we aren’t just a Web site, we still have a newspaper, so I had to get the early story in. That’s why I haven’t posted in awhile.      Anyway, the public comments continue. SUSD goes pink

Heard about it early this week and hearing more about it today — SUSD teachers are likely to show up at the 7 p.m. board meeting wearing pink (as in pink slip) as the school board possibly votes on sending out layoff notices to 325 members of the Stockton Teachers Association.      Here’s a [...]

SUSD acknowledges error in agenda

Based on what I’m being told, Resolution No. 08-35 in the agenda for tonight’s meeting was included accidentally, and the administration will ask the board to pull the item off the agenda. The resolution, with a two-plus page list of administrators’ names attached, says that those employees listed “may be released from their present [...]
