8. Billi Jo Dyer-Romero, 44

The Sheriff’s Office reported Dyer-Romero, of Acampo, was killed March 2 by her husband of 9 1/2 years, Juan Romero, who then killed himself.

7. Michael Wayne Smith, 36

Smith is the seventh homicide victim in San Joaquin County this year. He was beaten to death with a baseball bat on Feb. 25. Two others who were also beaten survived. The Sheriff’s Office arrested Richard Lee Henderson, 27, on suspicion of Smith’s murder.

6. Maya Paratore, 35

Maya Paratore was the fifth homicide victim in Stockton this year. (The sixth countywide.) 5. John Luis Gerolaga, 28

John Luis Gerolaga was San Joaquin County’s fifth and Stockton’s fourth homicide this year. He was shot in a parking lot outside of 6124 Pacific Ave. Police said he may have been in an argument before he was shot. There have been no arrests for his homicide.
