Police make arrest in deadly Lodi crash

Police arrested Ryan Christopher Morales, 28, today on suspicion of murder and other crimes in connection with a deadly collision that killed six people, authorities said. According to Lt. Sierra Brucia, a spokesman for the Lodi Police Department, Morales was taken into custody at a Sacramento-area hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained in the Oct. 22 crash. Morales was moved to a local hospital to continue his recovery. He will be booked into San Joaquin County Jail when he receives medical clearance from doctors, police said. He will remain under 24-hour guard until the time of his booking. Morales is facing six counts of second-degree murder and six counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, authorities said. Additional charges may be filed by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office after a review of the investigation is conducted, police said.
