Local law enforcement agencies are launching Memorial Day Weekend DUI campaigns to catch motorists driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The Avoid the 10: San Joaquin County DUI Campaign will conduct DUI saturation patrols from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday in Stockton; from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday in Lodi; from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday in Manteca; and from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday in Lodi. There will also be a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday in Manteca.
Authorities offer the following tips for revelers:
* Plan ahead. Arrange rides home for your friends, family, coworkers and yourself before drinking.
* Those hosting celebrations and servers should limit drinks to your guests or patrons. Don’t serve more than one or two over several hours.
*Identify and provide free non-alcoholic drinks to designated sober drivers. For tasty drink recipes, visit the DDrink Mixology Center at www.facebook.com/californiaOTS.
* Cut back on the amount of drinks you plan to bring to the party and provide plenty of food.
* Report drunk drivers by calling 911.
