Crime coverage in San Joaquin County is often a brutal and depressing beat.
But there are also ridiculous and humorous items in the daily media reports we receive from local law enforcement agencies. These incidents emergency workers respond to are so absurd they often fail to make the daily paper, but today’s offerings were too much to resist sharing.
These two incidents were handled by the University of the Pacific’s police department Tuesday evening and showcase Pacific students’ concern for the well-being of the bird population on campus.

Time: 5:09 p.m.
Summary: RP (reporting party) reported a dead bird. Physical Plant responded and determined that it was alive. The bird flew off.
And…
Location: McCaffrey Center
Time 9:53 p.m.
Summary: RP (reporting party) reported an injured bird above the Grove. Officer checked and determined bird was not injured.
I’ll try to make this a weekly segment. There are plenty of silly reasons why people call police, firefighters and paramedics in this county.
