Daily Chaos: Tracy carjacking, Stockton fire, rifle in pants
On Sunday night deputies in the Manteca area spotted a gold Toyota Corolla that been taken in a carjacking in Tracy. They followed the Corolla, tried to stop it, but had to chase it until the 16-year-old driver lost control and crashed in the 15700 block of Cottage Avenue. He was arrested there and his three passengers — boys, 17, 16 and 14 years old — who ran from the crash, were arrested later.
Police acting on a tip headed to Kelley and Stanfield drives around 11:30 a.m. Monday and found Deanthony Barnett, 19, had shoved a loaded .22-caliber rifle in his pants…on purpose. Barnett, a convicted felon wanted for robbery, was arrested.
And finally, an elderly man with mobility problems managed to escape a Monday morning fire that destroyed his mobile home. The Fire Department was called around 11:40 to the Sahara Mobile Court, in the 2300 block of Sanguinetti Lane, where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the mobile home. The man who lived there was trying to escape through the front door. He had inhaled smoke but declined a trip to the hospital. His four pet birds were killed in the fire. The American Red Cross found him temporary housing.
