Gordon MacKay, the public-works director, presented a PowerPoint on the Arch Road Sanitary Sewer Trunk Line. Item 15.1 called for approving an initial study and awarding a $2.5-million contract with Knife River Construction.
The Council, which approved the consent agenda, approved Item 15.1 with two 6-0 votes. Before the votes, Councilmember Moses Zapien said this is “an economic development project” that will allow for development of the area. Interim City Manager Kurt Wilson reiterated Zapien’s point. Zapien said he is pleased Knife River is local.
Councilmember Kathy Miller also said she is pleased. “This is exactly the type of project that is setting the table for economic development.”
