The Stockton City Council race to watch is between Michael Tubbs and incumbent Dale Fritchen.
Fritchen distinguished himself as the lone wolf who opposed Stockton’s bankruptcy filing, and yet Tubbs beat him in the June primary by some 12 percentage points. Next the race goes citywide, where the dynamics are different. Fritchen seems to have gained support from residents upset by bankruptcy, but he’s up against an energetic Stanford graduate who got a $10,000 bid of support from Oprah. Yes, that Oprah.
Tubbs tonight will kick off a series of six town hall meetings, with the running theme that “Enough is Enough.”
