Taking some hits on his way out, Stockton’s Auditor Michael Taylor says he’s retiring.
He provided the mayor and City Council this letter and a few “mixed feelings” to announce it. He’s retiring from Stockton, but actually, he’ll be returning to his home state of Virginia, where he’s got another job awaiting him.
Councilman Paul Canepa said this transition period will be the ideal time to reassess the city auditor’s role in City Hall.
“In the future we’ve got to figure out how we better manage the appointments that we have, as far as evaluations, progress and goals, where we’re going and where we need to be,” Canepa said.
Coincidentally, here’s a story from today’s San Francisco Chronicle on a juicy report issued by the city auditor in Oakland.
