Blansett on French

Retired San Joaquin County prosecutor Eual Blansett wrote to chime in on the story about David French. Blansett worked closely with French back in the day on the case of Eckhard Schmitz, a wealthy developer and child molester.

The city has accused French, 69, of orchestrating the purchase of a home next door to City Manager Bob Deis and in the process raise his ire. Now the public is left to decide if it believes French, who told The Record he didn’t have a hand in that deal.

Writes Blansett:

Dave French was an honest and highly ethical police officer.  I trusted him like a brother.  He handled the Eckhard Schmitz case with professional precision and with the utmost competence.  It was always a pleasure to work side by side with him in his cases.  And, you may quote me on that.
